Selling A Home Dawn Griffin November 3, 2026
Can you refer your parents to your St. Louis real estate agent without getting stuck in the middle? Yes. Give them my number, and my team at the Dawn Griffin Group will guide them through the move. You can keep your job as their kid.
A friend texted me this morning. Her exact words:
"My parents want to move to Kirkwood but I am afraid to give them your number bc they might be a pain to work with and I want to stay friends. Haha.”
First of all, I love her. Second of all, “haha” is doing a LOT of heavy lifting in that sentence.
If you’ve ever protected me from a “difficult” relative like I’m a houseplant that can’t handle direct sunlight, this one’s for you.
Everyone is a pain to somebody. Your parents. My parents. Me (just ask my kids).
The parent who wants to see the house four times? Thorough. The one who brings a tape measure to every showing? Smart. If the bedroom closet is two feet shorter than the one they have now, they’ll be glad they checked.
And the one who wants to talk about the 12-year-old furnace again? I’d rather they ask while we can still bring it up with the inspector. Helping someone figure out what they’re comfortable buying is part of the job. So is walking them through the paperwork and talking through what to negotiate. They can bring those questions straight to us.
Let's be honest about the other worry: technology. The dad who prints his emails. The mom who answers FaceTime with the camera pointed at the ceiling fan. The neighbor who thinks "the cloud" is a weather report. Maybe what you’re picturing is your parents getting an email that says “Click here to sign” and immediately calling you. At work. While you’re in a meeting.
We can handle all of this. If your parents prefer a phone call, we’ll call. If they want a printed copy, we’ll print it. If they’d like someone to sit at the kitchen table and walk through every signature, we'll pull up a chair. Nobody gets left alone with DotLoop or DocuSign, and you don’t get drafted as unpaid tech support.
Our motto (yes, we have one):
At the Dawn Griffin Group, our goal is to do such a great job that you feel like you're doing your friends and family a favor by giving them our name.
Not - "I hope this goes okay."
Not - "Please don't make this weird at Thanksgiving."
A favor. The kind where your friend calls you after closing to say thank you, and you get to act humble about it.
So when you hand over our number, you're not risking the friendship. You're making a deposit in it.
So go ahead, send us the "difficult" ones. The picky ones. The worriers. The ones with a spreadsheet. The ones without a smartphone.
If you want to make the introduction yourself, a group text can be as simple as “Dawn, these are my parents. They’re thinking about moving and would love to talk. Mom and Dad, Dawn’s the agent I told you about.” We’ll take it from there.
You can text me at the number at the top of this page or email me here. We will take good care of them.
And to my friend whose parents want to move to Kirkwood? Give them my number. I promise we’ll still be friends. haha
