Fox Park is a historic neighborhood located just south of downtown St. Louis. Developed primarily in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it features beautiful examples of red brick Victorian and Second Empire-style architecture. The neighborhood was originally home to German immigrants and working-class families who built close-knit communities around local churches, corner stores, and small factories. Named after the nearby Fox Park, the area has experienced significant revitalization in recent years, attracting new residents while preserving its historic charm. This south St. Louis neighborhood is bound by I-44 to the north, Gravois to the south, Nebraska to the west, and Jefferson to the east.
Fox Park features a rich mix of historic housing, with beautifully restored 19th- and early 20th-century brick homes, including classic St. Louis row houses, townhomes, and two- to four-family flats. Many properties showcase original architectural details like ornate cornices, tall windows, and hardwood floors, while updated interiors often blend modern amenities with vintage charm. Residents are drawn to its character, walkability, and proximity to downtown.

One of the perks of the Fox Park neighborhood is its proximity to four parks. The namesake Fox Park sits at nearly the center of the neighborhood. It is a small but lively city park featuring a playground, splash pad, and sports courts. It’s a popular gathering spot for neighborhood families and community events, offering green space and recreation in an urban setting.
The gazebo in Lafayette Square Park
Lafayette Park was dedicated in 1851 as one of the first public parks, and by far the largest of its era. It is considered by many historians to be the oldest urban park west of the Mississippi. Its 30 acres feature a lake, playground, pavilions, and some of the most picturesque walks of any park in St. Louis. The park hosts free concerts and vintage baseball games in the summer.
Tower Grove Park is a 289-acre Victorian-era park known for its beautiful pavilions, diverse tree collection, and vibrant community events. Located next to the Missouri Botanical Garden, it’s a favorite spot for farmers markets, festivals, and peaceful walks among historic statues and fountains.
Compton Hill Reservoir Park is known for its water tower which was built in 1899. The tower quickly became a favorite spot from which to view the City, and remains so today with limited public hours for the public to tour and climb to the top. Amenities include playgrounds, a dog park, and tennis courts.
