By this point in the summer, you may be running out of ideas to keep the kiddos busy.  Below are some free summer camps offered throughout the area that have open spots still available.

St. Louis Public Library Camps

St. Louis Public Library is offering 70 FREE week-long Summer Camps for kids and teens. Space is limited and registration is required. Register through the online application or by pickup an application at any SLPL location. Limit two camps per child. Questions? Call 314-880-8169 or email

St. Louis City Free Summer Camps

The City of St. Louis and Playtime Recreation offer FREE summer camps for children ages 7-15 teaching a variety of recreational interests. Camp topics include art, basketball, brain boost, cheerleading, circus arts, cooking, engineering, fishing, football, game design, golf, hip hop arts, karate, machine makers and machine lab (engineering), pickleball, photography, poetry, robotics, soccer, swimming, tennis, tree climbing and geocaching, theater, track, youth poetry slam and more. Registration opened in April, but some camps remain open. View the schedules and register online.

Missouri Conservation Summer Programs

The Missouri Conservation Department offers free summer programs at various parks throughout the regions. View the entire schedule here. Learning to fish at Forest Park sounds kind of fun.

Conservation TEENS: Choose Your Own Adventure: Forest Park
Register by July 10 | Date: Friday, July 12, 2019 – 9:30am to 2:30pm
Location: Forest Park Hatchery

Cast a line learning the basics of fishing, look for special insects in the water, and go on a geocaching treasure hunt. Try your hand at some of these great activities while soaking up the summer sun. This program will meet at the Education Fishing Lakes and Hatchery in Forest Park. Although fishing is permitted in the park with a license, the Forest Park Education Fishing Lakes are not open to public fishing unless registered for a program.
